January 20th - All About Cabernet Franc
Time: 6:30pm
Location: 88 Nassau Street
Cabernet Franc has both nothing and everything to do with Cabernet Sauvignon. As one of ’THE’ elderly states persons in the world of wine, Cab Franc delivers deliciousness on a grand scale from the cooler climate banks of the Loire River, France to the open shores of Niagara, Ontario. Pleasing to all palates and appreciated regardless of your wine knowledge, let’s dive into the world of Cabernet Franc: an origin story from Loire Valley France to the already emerging greatness of Niagara Wine Country.
January 27th - Orange Wine & Skin Maceration 101
Time: 6:30pm
Location: 1247 Dundas West, Grape Witches Private Salon
What is an Orange Wine? What is Skin Maceration? The media and marketing around this category of wine leads us to believe they are the new, funky, hipster wines - but are they? Skin Maceration wines have been around since the dawn of early wine making, emerging quietly out of the East and now capturing the imagination of the West. Offering a plethora of aroma and flavors, these wines need to be experienced in context with an open mind and palate.
One of the most versatile categories, orange and skin maceration wines offer the ideal pairing for the Canadian dining scene, from farm-to-table cooking to multi-course and intricate fine dining menus. Orange wines do the work - let’s explore together!
February 3rd - The World of Riesling
Time: 6:30pm
Location: 88 Nassau Street
There are very few grapes in the world that possess the character to make a diversity of wines styles. Riesling, in all its glory, can be dry to off dry, still or sparkling, classic to orange-wined, late-harvested to ice wined… and yet still remain true to form. It’s found in all corners where there is wine, and often overlooked for fear of sweetness.
A true aficionado and sommelier favorite given the many hats it can wear, we invite you to join us as we explore this wonderful wine. From the Rhine, Germany to Alsace, France, let’s appreciate the duality of this grape which can be as fresh as a winter morning to as gentle as the sunlight.
February 25th - New Zealand Pinot Noir
Time: 6:30pm
Location: 1247 Dundas West, Grape Witches Private Salon
Fresh off the back of a 2-week escapade in New Zealand Wine Country, join Christopher on an adventure into the world of Pinot Noir from ‘down under.’ Gain deeper insight into the people, places and the climate that make New Zealand one of the world’s most premium wine zones for Pinot Noir, outside of Burgundy, France!
After this session you’ll be a much better judge of Pinot Noir wines, and a more confident buyer for your own enjoyment, cellaring or dinner party impressing ;)
