The Golden Square Mile is nestled at the base of Mount Royal and between Rue Guy, Boulevard René-Lévesque O and Rue University. This 1-square-mile area was once home to some of Montreal’s wealthiest residents and featured unique architecture never before seen in Canada. Most of the elaborate homes that stood here have since been destroyed, but some remain intact and have been converted into museums, embassies, hotels and McGill University buildings.
Take a walking tour of these architectural treasures and admire their mix of medieval, renaissance, Greek, Roman, gothic and Germanic features. Afterwards, head to the Underground City for some shopping and dining below the city.

“Iconic luxury. The Ritz is unsurprisingly focused on exceptional service and hospitality. One of my favourite little bars is around the corner from the hotel - Cloakroom Bar. If you love great cocktails, and speakeasy atmospheres, you’re going to like this spot, a stone’s throw from the Ritz.”
